National Membership

The application cycle for 2024 is now closed. Applications for 2025 will reopen in Fall 2024.

To be eligible to apply, students must:

Be enrolled in a health-professional curriculum

Have completed at least 45 credit hours total, which can include AP/IB credit, transfer credit, and concurrent credit

Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 GPA on a 4.00 scale

Have a cumulative science GPA of at least 3.20 on a 4.00 scale (biology, chemistry, physics, and math) You can find this using the provided GPA calculator.

To become a member, complete all portions of the application below and share Microsoft OneDrive folder to premed@uark.edu below by Friday December 15, 2023 at midnight.

Membership in AED requires a one-time national fee of $75.00 and a one-time chapter fee of $10.00 ($85.00 total fee). This can be paid via the CashNet credit card system. More information about this method is listed below.

Those who apply for National Membership are automatically accepted as Associate Members as long as they meet the eligibility criteria. This is to allow National applicants to participate in events while waiting for National approval. There is no need to fill out both applications.

Helpful Information:

Date of Initiation: January 16, 2024
Please fill out the "Chapter Verification" section at the bottom by filling in your GPA values
Anticipated graduation date: Search for the "UARK five-year calendar"
By using Adobe Acrobat, the review team can make edits to any mistakes that are made in order to avoid delays in your acceptance

What most people do wrong:

Forget to add "Arkansas Alpha"
Put the incorrect year of initiation. Ex. a 2023 applicant for the 2024 initiation year may say they are being initiated in 2023 by accident.
Forget to add the GPA calculations
Put the incorrect year for graduation by mistake

Overall GPA includes all courses. Science GPA can include BIOL, CHEM, PHYS, and MATH classes (does not include KINS, PSYC, or ENGR courses). Include AP/IB credit, transfer credit, and concurrent credit.

Once paid by credit card, upload a screenshot of your receipt as a pdf file and initial at the bottom of the Checklist Form found in Step 1 to indicate you have paid by card (Ex: Jane Doe – JD)

Upload each form separately as a PDF within one folder labeled with as follows: “LAST NAME, FIRST NAME” using Microsoft OneDrive.

Then, from OneDrive directly, share the entire folder with premed@uark.edu and allow editing access. We will transfer your personal folder into a protected group folder for all 2024 applications.
